You’ve prepped your home and selected a REALTOR®, now it’s time to list your home. Here are a few things you can expect next:
Open Houses: Your REALTOR® will likely want to host a Broker’s Open where fellow colleagues will view your home and hopefully plan on returning with their clients. Broker’s Opens are generally held during the week. Open Houses for potential buyers to preview your home will come next, marketing to the general public in hopes of creating interest regarding your home. Open Houses are usually held on the weekend, and most commonly on Sunday.
Maintaining Your Home and Staying Flexible for Showings: After your home has been shown to brokers and potential buyers, it’s important to keep your home in tip-top condition for the possibility of a last-minute showing. This would include stowing laundry and keeping kitchen and baths tidy.
Receiving Offers: The average days on the market (DOM) for homes is 60-90. Hopefully, if your home is marketed well and priced right, you will soon be receiving offers. When the time comes, your REALTOR® will present the offer to you and explain the terms. You will then be expected to accept, reject or respond with a counteroffer.
